Morgan Women's Rugby Team was established in 2007, when a small founding group, approached senior clubs in Dundee to discuss the potential of starting a Women's section.

Morgan Academy FP were more than welcoming and the women's team have already made a big impact on the club.

From humble beginnings, a Come & Try Session was organised in the summer of 2007 to allow any ladies interested in taking up the sport to come along and give it a go. The session was an unprecedented success and so we had a team.

Following successes in the NDL, the team was entered into the SWRU Cup competition and without experience of an 80 minute game, played a slightly delayed friendly at Lismore in Edinburgh.

Following this, Morgan played in the SWRU Bowl Semi Final against previous NDL winners, Grangemouth, who had gone onto the National League the year before. A very nervous Morgan side stepped out onto the pitch for a game they won 35 - 0 sending the Dundee side to Murrayfield to face Melrose in the SWRU Bowl Final. When it came to the day of the final, the team fared not so well against the established border side, but were just happy to be there and a rather surprised looking No.8 Julz Anderson scored a try in the dying moments of the game.

Morgan Women were promoted to the National League along with sides from RDVC and Cartha Queens Park, formerly Strathclyde Uni.

In recognition of the team's efforts in the first year, the SWRU awarded the side the Team of the Year 07/08

Since our humble beginning we have continued to grow as a club and have attracted many players from complete "newbie" to our more experienced "oldies", many of whom have gone on to represent their country at either Under 20 or full international level.
